Week 12 - Nov 8

Our Class 12 wiki page is now available.

In this class we will cover the basic concepts of social networking and social news.

Social networking has emerged as a new way to communicate and share information. Social networking websites connect “people and communities.

Social news sites contain links to news and articles that users submit. It is the “collective” power of the community that shapes the content and direction of the social news website.

There is an assignment to accompany this class, which is due in 2 weeks!

There is an assignment to accompany this class which is located on our Social_Networking Collaboration Page in the SideBar of our wiki.

In this class we will learn how to create a podcast. In order to create a podcast you will need:

   1. Either audio or video files

   2. An RSS feed

   3. A Web server to host the files (both the audio or video files and the XML RSS file)

   4. The URL of the RSS feed (so that people can subscribe to it)

   5. The means to update the RSS feed file each time you post a new episode

There is no assignment for this class. I am giving you the opportunity to learn how to create a podcast by allowing you to substitute a podcast project for the final test.
